Paying for TV, You Are Dead To Me

I currently don’t own a TV.  I have an HDTV tuner PCI card that I have installed in my computer.  I pick up channels over the air.  It does a pretty good job of picking up stations too.  Now that South Park started back up, I realized I miss the comfort of being able to watch something when it is first aired.  I had been waiting for the torrent to be released hours later.  Now, I am ready to pay for TV.

I told myself that I would wait until Comedy Central is broadcasting in HD.  They have been broadcasting in HD since January of 2009.  They are new to the game, and unfortunately none of the options I have for TV offer their HD Service.  Including all of these options: AT&T U-Verse, Dish Network, Brighthouse Networks, Direct TV.  According to the internet (Yeah, I checked the internet), none of my providers can provide me some HD South Park.  Luckily I am not buying a TV until I come back from my traveling.  In the mean time I am going to e-mail these providers, and explain to them… the first provider that gives me my HD Comedy Central will get my money.

I would also like to e-mail my cable company and the other companies and ask them why I need a box.  I completely understand why I need a box for satellite TV, but digital cable can be decoded with almost all new TV’s now.  Having a Cable Box is such a pain in the dick.  Yeah, you provide me with a universal remote… But its never as cool as my Sony Remote.  Here is another argument… you could use this against Dish or Direct TV.  Not only does our service stay strong during a storm, but you don’t need a stupid Digital TV Cable box to watch your shit.  Just plug straight into that conveniently placed coax on the back of your television, decode those channels, and watch them.  With out the cable box not only will you have one less thing to control for your home entertainment center, you will have one extra input available, more room, and an extra power outlet.  Not to mention we wont be charging you a 7 dollar rental fee.  Cable boxes are for TV’s with out digital tuners.  My grandma used to have a cable box with her old TV.  That was back then, life was better when cable boxes went away.

If I have to have a cable box to watch HDTV I will continue downloading torrents of every show ever.   Dish Network and Direct TV, you’re not in trouble here.
